In two short weeks my city will “host the world” for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

As of right now I’ve not really been affected by the excitement that’s surely much flowing through most of the city, likely because I keep to myself most of the time and I really don’t know anyone here.  I do, however, see the advertisements on buses and billboards as well as the flags on Granville.

Am I excited about the Olympics?  Absolutely!  I wish that I could say that I have tickets to at least one ceremony or event.  I do not, unfortunately.  In the coming weeks I will be researching all sorts of free concerts and events that will be happening around Olympic Village and, with any luck, will take in some of the culture!

Will you be attending any of the festivities or events?  Any suggestions for websites to find information about free Olympic events?

I’m sure I’ll have much more to say on the topic in the next several weeks, stay tuned!

Yaletown will be alive with activities during the weeks surrounding the Games. Just head down there by transit or by foot and I’m sure there will be many things to take part in and with the large screens broadcasting the Ceremonies, etc., in places like David Lam Park, I’m sure it will almost be like you are really there with the energy coming off those you will be shoulder-to-shoulder with. If you were interested in seeing anything live, too bad you didn’t volunteer for the Games. Be sure to blog about your experiences. Be great ro read more.
